Galbanum Resin (Tear-drop)
Galbanum Gum is an aromatic oleo-gum-resin exuded from basal stem incisions of Ferula gummosa (syn. Ferula galbaniflua), a perennial herb of the Apiaceae family. It mainly originates from highlands of northern Iran, Afghanistan and mountainous Türkiye. Famous since antiquity and recorded in ancient texts and sacred incense formulas, commercial grades include hard Persian galbanum and soft Levant galbanum. Composed of volatile oil, resin and gum, it delivers the iconic green note highly valued in fine perfumery, aromatherapy and natural extraction, and is also directly used for incense to brighten and fix fragrance compositions.
