Oregano Essential Oil

Oregano essential oil, also known as wild marjoram essential oil, is rich in active constituents such as carvacrol, linalool and thymol. It is well known for its strong antibacterial and bacteriostatic properties, making it particularly suitable for addressing certain skin conditions such as athlete’s foot and onychomycosis. However, due to its high potency, oregano essential oil can be quite irritating and should be used with caution.

Main Uses

  1. Aromatherapy: Dilute sparingly and diffuse. Its rich aroma purifies air, eliminates odors, refreshes the mind and relieves drowsiness. Ideal for home sanitization and combating workday fatigue. Caution: Use minimal amounts to prevent an overpowering scent.
  2. Body-part Treatment: Dilute at a high ratio before blending with carrier oils for spot application or massage (suitable for healthy skin only). Its highly active ingredients soothe mild inflammation and inhibit bacterial growth, providing auxiliary antibacterial care for mosquito bites and minor abrasions. Avoid large-area application.
  3. Home Care: Add 1-2 drops to water or detergent for wiping household surfaces. Its antibacterial properties facilitate cleaning and disinfection with a subtle herbal scent. A small amount can also be added to laundry to boost fabric cleanliness, ideal for daily home hygiene upkeep.

Quality Assurance

  • Premium Mediterranean oregano—harvested for fresh flowers and leaves in pre- and post-flowering stages—is manually screened to eliminate impurities. Synthetic carvacrol, preservatives and harmful additives are rejected outright, guaranteeing the essential oil’s high purity and strong bioactivity at the source.
  • GC-MS test report is available, ensuring its composition and purity meet international quality standards for natural essential oils.
  • Steam-distilled extraction preserves the potency of core active ingredients, minimizes inert impurity residues, and locks in the essential oil’s high efficacy and original aroma.

Precautions for Use

  1. Concentration WarningPure oregano essential oil is highly concentrated and extremely irritating, and must never be applied directly to skin, mucous membranes, or broken areas. For daily use, dilute it thoroughly in carrier oils (e.g., jojoba or sweet almond oil) at a ratio of at least 1:20 (essential oil to carrier oil). Further reduce the concentration for children and those with sensitive skin.
  2. Sensitivity Test: Before first use, it is recommended to apply a small amount of diluted oil to the wrist. If there is no redness, swelling, itching or other discomfort within 24 hours, then you can use it.
  3. Contraindicated Population: Contraindicated for pregnant/breastfeeding women, infants, asthma patients, gastrointestinal disease sufferers, and individuals allergic to oregano or other Lamiaceae plants. Consult a professional aromatherapist prior to use.
  4. Storage Method: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from high temperatures and direct sunlight.
