Sagapenum
Sagapenum is an oleo-gum-resin obtained from root incisions of perennial herb Ferula szowitziana DC. of Apiaceae. It originates from arid saline slopes of Anatolia (Türkiye), western Iran and West Asia. Documented in ancient materia medica, it is often mistaken for galbanum yet categorized separately. Featuring characteristic sulfurous alliaceous odor, it was widely used in traditional remedies. Rarely applied in fine perfumery today, it is mainly for extraction and herbal formulations, with limited commercial availability.
